Fabian Burgos

ARTIST STATEMENT

Fabian Burgos' complex art philosophy always structures between opposites: reality and illusion, the true and the false, the empty and the full. Ideas are never complete; their opposites permanently inhabit them.

As the repository of an unknowable reason, the theoretical turn towards the body sometimes forgets something that these paintings remind us: that the mind is in the body. That perception is conceptual, and the concept is matter. In that thought of opposites, which inspired Mondrian's beautiful paintings, one never aspires to choose between one pole and the other but remain in equilibrium, on the edge of an abyss, where Burgos is, from where he lives and paints.
