ARTIST STATEMENT

Picabea's work navigates the debate of geometric abstraction from the first European avant-garde to its different appropriations throughout Latin America, from the Rio de la Plata Concretism to the resonances of the Venezuelan Abstraction.

Tackling the central concerns of these movements, her works constantly aim at questioning the limits of ordinary perception.
